May 29, 2017-I felt the hairs prickle on the back of my neck. Everything about this felt like a trap, and I hope that Simba thought the same thing.
“You have a son?” Simba asked. He still held tight to his taser just in case he needed to use it.
“Yessss, he is five yearssss old,” Hugo hissed. His eyes shifted from side to side as he spoke and this simple act did nothing for my beefing up my confidence in what he was saying.
“What happened to him?” I asked. My voice didn’t sound like me, it sounded different, less authoritative and I knew that it was because my lungs felt as though they were in a vise.
“He went misssssing yessssterday, I looked for him everywhere but he wassssn’t where he normally issss, thisss isssss very worrissssome and I could ussssse your help locating him,” Hugo said.
I looked at Simba who looked at Dog who looked at me. I was trying my very best to communicate with the both of them through ESP but it clearly wasn’t working.
“Why should we help you? You’ve caused nothing but trouble for us and our friends in the past so why do you think we should listen to what you have to say?” Simba said.
“Becaussssse I’m a changed man,” Hugo slithered.
His eyes narrowed, and he flicked the end of his enormous body. It made a loud THUD on the ground.
“Let me prove it to you, come with me.” He turned his back to us, and I motioned for Simba and Dog to stay put.
Hugo looked back at us over his shoulder, “Well? What do you ssssssay? Are you coming or not?”
I took a deep breath and said, “Give us a minute, we need to discuss the plan of action if we’re going to help you.” At the very least I thought that me saying this would buy us some time.
“Very well, you have one minute to deccccide.”
“What are we going to do?” I heaved, “We can’t possibly go with him! You don’t trust him, do you? Please tell me you don’t trust him.”
Simba scratched behind his ear and paused for a moment, and before I knew what was happening, Dog pulled out a switchblade! What was going on? Had he betrayed us?
“You don’t have a choice…come with us,” Dog sneered, and he pressed the switchblade to my neck and marched us forward.
