August 30, 2016- I paced back and forth as I tried to think of anything we could do to find the small human and alert the large one. I was fresh out of ideas so I let Simba have the floor. “Do you have any ideas?” I asked. He paused for a moment.”What if we…no. Nevermind,” Simba said sullenly. I could tell that he was quickly starting to lose hope and that I would have to be the one to think of something.
I looked around my lair for inspiration. My eyes scanned the room and came up with nothing…this was going to be difficult. “If I were a madman hell bent on revenge, where would I take someone?” I said as I tried to put myself into Henri’s shoes. “We need to go back upstairs…I feel like we missed something.” Simba did as I said and we entered the dining room once again. This time we were more thorough in our search. I glanced at the chloroform soaked rag that was still crumpled on the floor and decided to get a better vantage point. There were obvious signs of a struggle and my heart skipped a beat.
I jumped onto the table and looked around. A few papers, the resume that Henri brought and…a cell phone. “Simba, quick! Get up here, I think I found something!” I said. “What is it?” he asked. I pointed to the cell phone, “I think that it was recording the interview! I think that we may have video evidence of what happened to the small human!” Simba’s eyes widened and I his face was wrought with worry, “What are we going to do with it? How do we get it to the police ?” I thought for a second. “Wait! That’s it!” I had watched the small human call the large one a hundred times on this device. I knew that if we pressed the number 1 that it would dial his number. It was worth a shot. “Number 1 connects to the large human…I’ve seen it many times before!” I said to Simba.
I pressed the number 1 and nothing happened. I fiddled around with the screen but it was no use, I couldn’t figure it out. A few seconds later the phone rang…it showed ADAM on the screen…that was the large human’s name! He was trying to call her! I took a deep breath and pressed the answer button. “Yell as loud as you can!” I instructed Simba and we both started screaming.
August 27, 2016-I didn’t know if I believed myself or not. In actuality, Simba’s reaction was on par…I couldn’t blame him for freaking out, I wanted to as well but I had to keep calm for the both of us. I needed a level head to figure this out and to ensure our safety.
“Where is Henri? Please tell me he’s not here anymore!” Simba said. I stared at Simba for a second and time stood still. I felt as though I was watching myself from outside of my body. “I…uh…uh…” We raced back to where I had left the small, stupid human and slammed on the brakes. I almost fell head over heels because I stopped so suddenly. I peeked around the corner and there was no trace of the small, stupid human…it didn’t make sense! She couldn’t have vanished into thin air…panic filled my heart and I started to worry. “She’s not here! Where is she?” Simba said. He was starting to hyperventilate, after all, the small human was his best friend in the whole world. He had every reason to panic.
I noticed that a few items had been knocked off of the table. It was strange and it looked like there had been a struggle. I sniffed around the table and noticed a rag on the floor. I crept a little closer and stopped in my tracks. Chloroform. I could identify that smell anywhere! It had been part of my military training; I was thankful that it had been or I would have been in enormous danger. Simba stood beside me, “What is it?! Where is SHE?!” I bowed my head and said, “She’s been taken.”
August 26, 2016-I rushed to find Simba; he was still sleeping in the nest as if nothing had happened. If he knew what had just transpired he would have been awake with fear. I thought about keeping the information about Henri to myself but I decided that it would be for the best if I told Simba. I was going to need all of the help that I could get.
“Simba, wake up! This is important!” I said. Simba sighed, “Ugh, what is it now?” “It’s Henri…he’s back.” This got his attention and he sat straight up. “WHAT? What do you mean?” he said. His body shook as he spoke and I truly wondered if I had done the right thing by telling him. “He’s back and…” I paused, “And I think that he’s going to be our babysitter.” Terror filled Simba’s eyes and he wrung his paws together nervously as I told him about the small, stupid human and how she interviewed him. “How could she not tell that it was Henri?” Simba asked. “It’s because he was disguised! He didn’t look anything like he did on t.v. and the only thing that gave him away was hit tattoo!” I explained.
“What are we going to do?” he asked, “This is a huge problem! He’s going to kidnap us again…or…or worse! What if the tall, thin human has escaped jail somehow? What if..” I grabbed Simba by the face and stared into his eyes. “You need to CALM DOWN!” I said. “We will figure this out!”
June 30, 2016-At that moment I had complete faith in my team; I knew that they would follow through with the plan we had devised and that it would be executed flawlessly. As the human held me in her grasp I briefly thought about attacking her but I decided to restrain myself for the moment; If I did not fully co-operate and follow my own instructions, there would be no chance of escaping or rescuing Simba.
I was loaded into a black vehicle that contained the tall, thin human, Edgardo, his henchmen and Henri. I had not laid eyes on Henri since he whisked Simba away which was on our very first day here; I thought about attacking him also but I remained calm. I had a job to do and I knew that it was very dangerous so I needed to keep my wits about me. We travelled in silence for quite some time until the tall, thin human spoke,” We’re almost there get the cat ready and Edgardo get dressed!” Edgardo did as she said; he put on a black cargo vest that contained a slew of tools: pliers, a laser pointer, goggles, a zip line, a pulley and a pocketknife. He set his watch and adjusted his headset as the vehicle came to a stop.
“I trust that there will be no issues from you and that you will follow my instructions when I give them to you!” the tall, thin human hissed at me, “Because we would hate for anything to happen to your precious Simba.” I narrowed my eyes at her and agreed that I would co-operate fully. Anger washed over me and I prayed that the animals were executing part 1 of our plan…operation Simba. I wanted to run, I wanted to slash the human’s face open and escape but I remembered the plan…all in good time. Soon this would be over and we would all be reunited with our families.
The tall, thin human stuffed me into her Chanel bag and exited the vehicle; Edgardo and Henri followed behind us. The moonlight dripped onto a broken bottle in the street and the shards of glass shimmered in the darkness. We scaled a ladder at the side of a building to the rooftop and I was released from the handbag; a gigantic, glass skylight served as a window to the museum below.
