Seabass’ Diary…Day 117…Help Us Please…

September 7, 2016-There I stood, nose to nose with a behemoth. I had never seen anything like this! It was some sort of canine yes, but not the kind I had ever come across and it definitely wasn’t Monty. I took a step backward, raised my hands in the air as if to surrender and slowly tried to move away. The huge animal shoved it’s nose into my belly and gave me the once over. He sniffed and snorted at me and I was covered in his slobber; it was absolutely disgusting! As soon as I figured out who this chap was I would send him my dry cleaning bill!

While he inspected me I looked behind him and saw an enormous bone…that’s what the sound must have been, his teeth scraping the scraps of meat off of it.  The gigantic canine finally stopped sniffing me and I relaxed a little. “Is this Monty’s house?” I asked as Simba came out of the bushes and joined me. He must have figured it was safe now that the animal hadn’t made a meal out of me. “Yup it’s his house but he’s not here…who are you?” the canine asked suspiciously. “I’m Seabass and this is Simba,” I said pointing to him. “We really needed Monty’s help, when will he be back?” I asked. We were running out of time to find the small human and there had been no indication that the large human had received our message.

“Why do you need his help? I can help, what do you need help with?” he asked eagerly. “Our mother is missing,” Simba said, “Our human,” I clarified. “She has been kidnapped by a horrible man and we are afraid that we’ll never see her again-that’s why we needed Monty! We were going to have him track down her scent and lead us to her…before it’s too late,” I said. The canine paused for a moment then said, “I come from a long line of canines that help humans, my grandfather was a Saint Bernard Rescue Dog, he saved many lives in the Swiss Alps…I can help you find your human.”

Seabass’ Diary…Day 88…Help…

July 25, 2016-Grandpa motioned for us to hide. The sound of the vehicle became so close that we could hear the engine running outside of the barn door. We hid behind bales of straw and machinery; Grandpa hid with Simba and I and we had a pretty good vantage point of the barn door.

It was so quiet inside of the barn that you could hear a pin drop. The animals collectively held their breath as the massive door swung open with force. A short, pretty human with dark hair and glasses jumped out of her truck and moved a few bales of straw. She climbed back into the vehicle slowly backed it into the barn and shut off the engine; she flipped down the tailgate and began to load the back with bales.

We were in quite a quandary; if we revealed ourselves to the human she would be startled and besides, what if she was a bad one? But if we stayed put and did nothing, the tall, thin human might find us and we would be in an even worse situation. Grandpa must’ve had the same thoughts running through his mind as I did, because when I looked over-he was gone.

I caught a glimpse of him crawling out the hole that we had originally entered in at the side of the barn. What in the world was he doing? Just as I was about to follow him, Simba grabbed me by the paw and restrained me. “He has a plan, don’t compromise it!” he whispered. I decided to heed his advice and I watched as Grandpa walked through the front of the barn. He had his hands out to his sides and said,”Excuse me Miss?” The small human was startled and she turned to face him. She had a pitchfork in her hand and I noticed she gripped it tighter when she saw him; “I need your help,” Grandpa said calmly.

Seabass’ Diary…Day 39…Trouble…

May 11, 2016- At that very moment I decided it was time indeed, time for me to reveal myself and take over their plan. I pounced from the bushes and said, “Not so fast!” The group was surprised to see me and Simba’s eyes narrowed in anger, “What are you doing here and why are you wearing night vision goggles?” he demanded. I smirked at his stupidity, “You didn’t think you could do this without me did you?”

I’m sure it took everything in him to restrain himself but Simba remained calm. “This is my operation…we’ve done all of the work and you expect to swoop in at the last second and take command of my brigade…no, that is not happening.” I glared at him, “I’ve studied the location and even ordered supplies that would benefit us.” I showed him what was in my backpack to prove to him that I would be a help not a hindrance. There was a pause from the group, the bandit gathered everyone except me into a huddle.

After a quick conversation Simba finally said the words I had been waiting to hear, “Fine you can join us but don’t screw it up, your orders will come directly from me.” That’s maybe what he said but this is what I heard, “Your Lordship, we welcome you with open arms, please take over this mission and lead us into battle! Without you there would be no victory!” I happily obliged and handed out the items in my sack.

There was a loud noise that startled the brigade, we whipped around to see what it was. A gang of misfits stood ominously in a tree behind us, the scariest part is that they were all the same species…Squirrels. The head squirrel that had continuously tortured Simba and I from outside the prison walls was staring at us…and he was wearing the mask that I had ordered from the Amazon.

Seabass’ Diary…Day 34…Secrets…

May 4, 2016-I retreated down the corridor and returned to my lair…I had no idea what to do. Should I confront Simba immediately and tell him that he needs my help? Should I assemble my own gang to perform the operation? Should I show up unexpectedly and complete a hostile take over of the mission? There were so many options! One thing I did know for sure was that they needed me-they needed me and they didn’t even know it.

I raced upstairs to the place where the stupid humans were still watching the movie. It wouldn’t be long before they would retire to their nest. The large, stupid one and the mongrel seemed in competition for who could snore the loudest; it was disheartening to know that they were the reasons for my recapture. Nevermind, I had a new goal to focus on, something else to take my attention away from my situation. Plus, I now had an escape route that led to freedom!

Simba sauntered up the stairs and tried his best to act as if he had just stirred from his slumber. I wanted to punch him in the face for betraying me like this and for thinking that he could do this on his own, but alas, I remained calm. I stared at him, if he only knew that I had discovered his plan! I decided at that moment what my course of action would be, I would show up at his operation and take over the entire thing-that way I could ensure that it would be done correctly. Besides, if he kept such secrets from me, he should be prepared for a taste of his own medicine!
