April 6, 2017-The tale of Tommaso the cat is a true rags-to-riches story! The stray black beauty was homeless on the streets of Rome when Maria Assunta, the widow of a successful real estate tycoon, took him in.
As her health began to fail Maria, who had no children, knew that she needed to find Tommaso someone who loved him as much as she did so she instructed her attorneys to find an animal welfare association who would look after him. When they were unable to find such a place with the right person, Maria left all of her money to Tommaso via her nurse Stefania who cared for her until the day she passed away. Stefania’s last name has never been disclosed in order to protect her identity, Tommaso’s identity and to foil any attempts at kidnapping or ransom orders.
She left her $133 million dollar fortune to her beloved kitty Tommaso when she died at the age of 94. The feline’s newfound riches include cash, as well as properties in Rome, Milan and land in Calabria.
I’m so glad Tommaso found a loving home with someone who wanted to give him the world!
January 23, 2017- I felt a strong pull on my fur that was heavily weighted down by the water. I supposed it wasn’t always a good thing to have such a thick, luxurious coat but nonetheless it was just another one of my crosses to bear.
I sputtered and spat on a rock that I had been lifted onto and cleared the water from my throat. The rock was hidden from the dock and I looked behind me to make sure the tall, thin woman and her rocket launcher were not aimed at me. It wasn’t and for that I was thankful.
I had been saved from the clutches of death and because of this, I vowed to be nicer to the large human. As I turned around to slowly blink at him in thanks, I realized it wasn’t him who saved my life at all…it was someone who I least expected; it was Simba.
“You’re ok, you’re on land now,” Simba said as I stared at him in disbelief.
“But how…wha…?” I stuttered, my brain wouldn’t let me form a proper sentence.
“Now is not the time for questions, we must find the large human and Bernard immediately, they’re in grave danger if we don’t get to them first,” Simba spat.
A mix of feelings filled me. I didn’t know what to think and there was an uneasiness about the whole situation. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust Simba, I just never thought that he was this strong. The questions I had, ate at me and I wondered what else I didn’t know about him. I stared at his utility belt and jacket which was full of mercenary implements.
I was in a haze until he grabbed my shoulders, shook me and said, “Snap out of it. We must find the large human NOW because his life depends on it.”
Today is Friday the 13th and what better way to celebrate than to honour some gorgeous black cats! Black cats are amazing luck and if one crosses your path it means that you were fortunate enough to see one! So take a second to bask in its beauty and remind yourself of how lucky you are! I happen to have a black cat of my own whom I absolutely adore. He’s got a quirky personality, thinks he’s the boss of me and writes in his personal diary about trying to take over the world. Here are some really great pics of my black beauty named Sebastieno…affectionately known as Seabass.
Did you know that sadly, black cats are LEAST likely to be adopted? I think they’re majestic and I have one of my own. Let’s help these beauties find a forever home. Visit the animal shelters in your home town and adopt a black cat today!
